I used to love this place but it’s really sad that the bartenders are very gossipy and treat people very poorly when they don’t like someone. They can be very big bullies and it makes me sad that grown women act as though they are children. With the exception of Colleen who is very welcoming and nice!

Recently had my babyshower here in the gold star room. The owner is a very pleasant man and I spoke to one very nice female over the phone and had such high expectations going in, but they quickly turned to just meh but the bartender that was working during my shower made some very snarky comments to the father and grandpa of the baby that was being showered for wanting a beer. I feel judgement shouldn’t be passed if you don’t agree with something as a worker you don’t pass your judgement off or beliefs off on paying customers. There were no issues on the party attendees having a drink as that is how our families our. I also got confirmation twice that it was okay for our attendees to walk over and buy a drink that they just couldn’t stay in the bar area and had to come back to the room, but that was not an issue at all, Some might disagree but no judgement should be passed. The kitchen staff were also not so pleasant. We had a rather large spill and did not want to leave it a mess as we are not those type of people so we stepped into the kitchen to ask for paper towel as all we had were napkins and the mess was bigger than what napkins could work for and were greeted with just fin

So, I'm not a member of the Gary Sportsman's Club located on Madison Ave. in Crown Point, Indiana. However, anytime I was brave enough to step foot to this lovely place - to ask for a sip of water for myself, recently, and even once for my dog - the kind, hardworking staff here always made a point to lend a polite hand to a young woman (and sometimes her canine companion) in need. Thanks for going the extra mile, Gary Sportsman Club! Thank you, especially, for giving my dog some much needed water on a hot summer day! (Again, I never stayed long to buy a real drink. My rating is based off of the kindness of the people that work so hard here!) The inside of the club is beauitful. It's history and legacy is much too rich to drink in in ONE single Google review written by a young woman job hunting, dog walking, and trying to make sure we stay hydrated on those long walks! Please, do yourself a favor, and research this club for yourself to see if it's the right fit for you. They've worked tirelessly to contribute to the community, regardless of whose a member of it. Thank you so much!
